Who are the strikers in Premier League demand?

Will any of these strikers be on the move this month?

The January scramble has already started.

There have been a number of high-profile transfers this month, with the likes of Jadon Sancho, Timo Werner and Eric Dier all on the move.

But you get the feeling there will be plenty more to come, especially with a number of Premier League teams stepping up their search for goals.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are just a few who have been heavily linked with moves for forwards.

BBC Sport take a look at some of the top strikers across Europe who could be in demand this month.

Karim Benzema – Al Ittihad

Could the France ace really return to Europe just months after leaving Real Madrid for Saudi Arabia? Don’t rule it out, with reports in recent weeks saying he is unhappy in the Middle East.

Benzema spent 14 seasons at Real Madrid and scored more than 350 goals in helping them win four La Liga and five Champions League titles, and notched more than 30 for the third successive season before moving to Al Ittihad.

He has scored nine times in 15 league games since moving but, with Al Ittihad languishing in seventh, could he be tempted into the Premier League?

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting – Bayern Munich

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has struggled for games at Bayern Munich this season

Manchester United are one of a number of Premier League clubs reported to be tracking Bayern’s 34-year-old Cameroon international.

Scoring 17 goals in all competitions last season, the former Stoke and PSG striker has been used sparingly this campaign and is out of contract this summer so could be a bargain addition for someone.

Evan Ferguson – Brighton

Brighton’s 19-year-old striker is reportedly already in high demand after scoring six goals in 11 Premier League starts this campaign.

The Republic of Ireland international has been linked with the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona but, having recently signed a new deal until 2029, it is likely it would take more than £100m to land his signature.

Santiago Gimenez – Feyenoord

Feyenoord’s Mexican striker has been attracting the headlines this season, scoring 18 goals in 16 appearances in the Eredivisie and 43 in 67 in total, since signing from Cruz Azul in 2022.

West Ham are reportedly keen on the 22-year-old, with Arsenal also linked, but, under contract until 2027, it would likely take around 60m euros to sign him.

Serhou Guirassy – Stuttgart

The 27-year-old Guinea striker is in the form of his life, scoring 17 goals in just 14 Bundesliga games for Stuttgart.

Currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations, the former Amiens and Rennes striker is reportedly being considered by Manchester United, Newcastle, Arsenal and Tottenham to name but a few.

A £15m release clause would make him even more attractive, although Bildexternal-link state that this clause is only ‘valid until mid-January’ – so teams will have to get a move on.

Viktor Gyokeres – Sporting Lisbon

Viktor Gyokeres scored 21 goals for Coventry in the Championship last season, earning him a summer move to Sporting

Since joining Sporting from Coventry in the summer, Gyokeres has scored 17 goals in 20 matches and has been linked with a number of clubs across Europe.

Sporting though have insisted they have no interest in selling, with the striker himself declaring he is happy in Portugal. It would take a huge bid to lure him away – with a 100m euro release clause being mooted.

Vangelis Pavlidis – AZ Alkmaar

Chelsea, Fulham, AC Milan and Barcelona are reportedly monitoring the Greek international, who has scored 18 goals in 16 Eredivisie league matches this season.

Dutch media reported the 25-year-old wanted to move to a Champions League club in the summer and remains keen on a move away this month.

Dominic Solanke – Bournemouth

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said on Friday he could not afford to sign Bournemouth’s top scorer this season.

But could the likes of Chelsea or Arsenal dig deep enough to persuade the Cherries to part with the 26-year-old, who has scored 12 Premier League goals this season and signed a new deal in September. He isn’t going to be cheap.

Ivan Toney – Brentford

Another Premier League striker very much in the transfer headlines this month – but could anybody really afford him?

The 27-year-old England international is eligible to play for Brentford again on 17 January after serving a ban for gambling offences and the Bees could face a battle to keep hold of their main marksman.

Brentford are not wanting to sell though and figures in the region of £100m are being talked about to secure his signature.

Dusan Vlahovic – Juventus

The 23-year-old Serbian has been continually linked with Arsenal over the past few seasons and is again strongly rumoured as being considered by Mikel Arteta as a solution to their goalscoring woes.

Vlahovic has scored seven goals for Juve in Serie A this season but the ‘Old Lady’ are believed to be open to a sale because of their own financial issues.

Joshua Zirkzee – Bologna

The 22-year-old Dutch forward is attracting plenty of interest after eight goals in 22 appearances this season.

The 6ft 4in striker has been linked with a number of Premier League teams, including Arsenal, but is likely to cost around £50m for any suitors.
