A teen was cuffed Tuesday for assaulting and spitting on a police officer at a Brooklyn high school, with a classmate busted amid the chaos, too, according to law enforcement.
A NYPD youth coordination officer was speaking to an 18-year-old student at Brooklyn Academy High School on Marcy Ave. near Putnam Ave. at 1:56 p.m. when the teen pushed and spat on her, cops said.
The student then punched and kicked the officer in an attempt to resist arrest until additional officers arrived to overwhelm the suspect and take him into custody, according to police.
The youth coordination officer was taken to Methodist Hospital for treatment of minor wounds, according to sources.
A 17-year-old boy was also arrested after he threw water on one of the responding officers, cops said.
In addition to augmenting school safety, youth coordination officers are tasked with identifying at-risk teens and connecting them with social and educational services.
The incident came after the Adams administration recently cut this year’s class of school safety agents in half, down to 120 from an anticipated 250, due to budget concerns.
