Possible murder-suicide in Union, N.J.: 2 adults, 2 kids found dead

Two adults and two children were found dead inside a Northern New Jersey home on Wednesday, authorities said,

Union County Sheriff’s officers found the bodies of the victims — believed to be a mother, a father and their two grade-school-aged kids — after showing up at a residence in Lincoln Township to serve an eviction in a foreclosure action, NBC New York reported.

Police were called to the scene shortly after the bodies were discovered, just after 10 a.m.

The house had been sold at a sheriff’s sale for $322,000 in November. The former owners had 60 days to vacate the property.

Their deaths appear to be the result of a murder-suicide, Union Business Administrator Don Travisano said, according to TapintoUnion.com.

Later on Wednesday, neighbors spoke with reporters, saying they hadn’t seen the family for days.

“We live on a pretty quiet block, so we don’t really see them that often,” one person told  WCBS. “We didn’t really know anything until today.”

Another neighbor told NBC New York the family had been living in the home for about 15 years.

The victims’ identities and cause of death weren’t immediately available Thursday. The Union County Prosecutor’s Office said an investigation is ongoing.

Union Township, in northern Union County, N.J., is located approximately 16 miles east of New York City.
