A Staten Island cop arrested for sexual misconduct and abuse of teens met one of his victims in his capacity as an NYPD officer, later using the department’s database to contact the boy, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Christopher Terranova, 33, while an officer at the 121st precinct, came into contact with the 15-year-old after the boy had been the victim of a robbery. Terranova later messaged the teen after finding his phone number in NYPD records, said prosecutors.
“it’s Chris Terranova the cop you met at the 121 [Precinct] that day with mom, i just wanted to reach out to see if you were doing ok after the incident, I hate seeing these things happen to good Guys like yourself,” he wrote in March, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Terranova moved on to contacting the teen on social media, switching the conversation to pornography and eventually sending a sexually explicit photo of himself.
“See it’s nothing Your turn” he wrote afterwards, according to federal prosecutors.
Terranova was first arrested in 2022 and has also been charged with sexual abuse of a minor. He joined the NYPD in 2011.
