A masked gunman opened fire on three men hanging out in the courtyard of a Brooklyn NYCHA building early Tuesday, fatally shooting one of them in the head, cops said.
The 25-year-old victim was outside NYCHA’s Ocean Hill Apartments in Brownsville with two men when the gunman stepped out of a car about 3:30 a.m. and began blasting away in their direction, police said.
Cops found the victim sprawled out on the ground suffering a gunshot wound to the head.
Medics rushed him to Brookdale University Hospital but he couldn’t be saved. His name was not immediately released.
The victim, who had a minor criminal record and was affiliated with the G Stone Crips street gang, did not live in the apartment building, a police source said.
While the gunman was aiming at the three men, it wasn’t clear if the victim was the shooter’s intended target, the source said.
The gunman jumped back into the car, which sped off. No arrests have been made.
Detectives on Tuesday were scouring the area for surveillance video.
