Kim Kardashian has just admitted that she believes this conspiracy theory: The 1969 moon landing was faked.
Thursday’s episode of “The Kardashians” shows the reality TV mogul on the set of her upcoming Hulu legal drama, “All’s Fair,” trying to get her co-star, Sarah Paulson, to also become a true believer.
“I’m sending you, so far, a million articles with both Buzz Aldrin and… the other one,” Kardashian told Paulson, according to People, with “the other one” being Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon.
After Paulson expresses interest in the topic, Kardashian reads an interview with Aldrin, in which he was asked about the scariest moment of the moon expedition.
Kardashian then explains to Paulson: “And [Aldrin] goes, ‘There was no scary moment, cause it didn’t happen. It could’ve been scary, but it wasn’t, cause it didn’t happen.’”
She then notes that the 95-year-old Aldrin “has gotten old and now he like, slurs, so I think it didn’t happen.”
Kardashian then vows to Paulson to go on a “massive deep dive” about the supposed moon landing hoax.
Later on, a producer visited Kardashian’s trailer and asked her if she was serious about her moon landing hoax suspicions.
“I don’t think we did. I think it was fake,” she said. “I’ve seen a few videos on Buzz Aldrin talking about how it didn’t happen. He says it all the time now, in interviews. Maybe we should find Buzz Aldrin.”
Kardashian then suggests the astronaut could debate the issue on her sister Khloe Kardashian’s podcast, before focusing on other aspects of the landing that make her skeptical, such as the lack of stars in photos from the internet, asking, “Why is the flag blowing?”
She also predicted how her lunar skepticism would be received by the world at large.
“They’re gonna say I’m crazy no matter what,” Kardashian said. “But go to TikTok, see for yourself!”
HuffPost reached out to Aldrin, whose wife of two years died earlier this week, for a comment, but no one immediately responded.
A 2022 Fact Check article by Reuters notes that moon landing skeptics often cite a 2000 interview Aldrin did with Conan O’Brien, where he explained that the TV footage of the astronauts on the moon was animated “because there wasn’t any television” on the moon, and “there wasn’t anybody taking the picture.”
However, NASA footage confirms the presence of Aldrin and Armstrong on the moon.
