Today we are looking at a Malbec-Cabernet red blend from Argentina, a style of wine we can often get behind, and a region that delivers solid value in today’s wine world.
The last time we reviewed this wine was back in 2019 with the 2016 vintage, so it’s been a while. We went 88 points on that wine at that time, and that’s exactly where we’re going to stay with this new vintage.

The varietal composition is 78% Malbec and 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the wine retains the same $18.99 price at Costco that it had six years ago. Also, a huge 93 points from Wine Advocate.
Spicy nose, and spicy throughout; the wine is a deep purple in the glass; medium plus to full in body; red berry, cherry and plum flavors with herbal notes; a bit of toast and mocha in the finish.
Not a bad buy at all, especially for fans of reds from this region. Be sure to decant this one as it seriously evolved with just a bit of air.
As you approach the $20 price point, there are a number of good options at Costco right now that we might prefer more. This recent Ribera, and the Kirkland Gigondas both come to mind, although this red blend isn’t a bad pick at all.
