The Kirkland Toscana Super Tuscan red blend is a wine we always look forward to trying, and it seems to hit us differently almost every time. This 2022 vintage though, might be our favorite so far.
The price did jump up $1 to $14.99 compared to the 2021 vintage, but that’s ok. This ballpark is right where you want this wine to be, and there seems to be a bump in quality along with it.

The wine is once again made by Alexander Van Beek, who has been associated with high end wines in Italy as well as Bordeaux.
Here’s where we’ve rated this wine over the years:

2021 vintage: 86 points
Reading over our tasting notes from the past few vintages, this almost feels like a different wine this time around. Where the past wines have felt disjointed or thin, this one is right on the money and packed with flavor and character.
Spicy, herbal on the nose with red and dark fruit aromas; medium plus body, good acidity; flavor of red berries, black cherry; vanilla, anise mid palate; comes together in a peppery, lingering finish.
This is just want you want in a Super Tuscan, and the price is great at $15. We’ve noted what a perfect pizza wine this is, and that’s exactly how we enjoyed it this time around too. Best vintage yet for this wine.
