This marks the third vintage for this exciting, and very delicious, Kirkland wine. We are thrilled to see it back and hope this is an indication it’s sticking around for a while.
We’ve gone 93 points on this one back to back, making it among the highest rated wines in the Kirkland portfolio from our standpoint.

The price did creep up $1 with this vintage, but even at $18.99, this bottle remains a ridiculous value for a Gran Selezione Chianti. As we said in last year’s write up, this wine lands somewhere in between “very nice Chianti” and “Brunello” territory.
Very similar tasting notes to the prior two vintages, which is a good thing. The wine is a medium ruby in the glass; earthy with tobacco and leather notes; flavors of black cherries, blackberry; full bodied and acidic with integrated tannins; dry finish.
Complex, elegant and interesting with every sip, this is a winner once again, right there in that same 93 point range we’ve found since its introduction.
We hope seeing this third vintage is indicative of it becoming a permanent part of the Kirkland wine portfolio. It will stay on our Top Picks list with a big thumbs up.
