2020 ‘The McNab’ McNab Ranch Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

0

This is a single vineyard Cabernet made by Bonterra, a winery known for their organic, biodynamic and sustainable practices, and also some pretty tasty wine.

This summer we found their estate Sauvignon Blanc at Costco for the first time. The price was $15 and we went 89 points on it; a nice summer find that we hope comes back this year.

The McNab Ranch Cabernet comes from Mendocino, so a little further north than many of the other California wines we typically find. The blend also includes 20% Petit Sirah. 94 points from Wine Enthusiast too.

Pricing is interesting here since retail looks to be $50; for some reason Wine.com is $53, and most places online are in the $40’s. So Costco’s $28.99 is particularly attractive.

Especially considering the wine is absolutely delicious; one of the those bottles that just draws you in.

In the glass, the wine is a deep ruby with a vibrant nose of dark fruit, herbs and spice; beautiful in the mouth, medium plus in body; nice fruit flavors of blackberry, black cherry; notes of clove, mocha and vanilla into the lingering finish.

This one surprised us as we weren’t sure what to expect. And it turned out to be a fantastic wine at a highly discounted Costco price. We can get behind that, and we will with 92 points and a Top Pick designation.
