A Halloween gaming institution has begun once more.

Over the years, the biggest ongoing games have throwing increasing extravagant Halloween events. Of course, nobody should forget the game that helped start this trend: Team Fortress 2. The 17th annual Scream Fortress has arrived and, as has been the case in recent years, the TF2 community has stepped in to contribute five new community maps.

The Halloween map rotation has gotten big over the years and now players can look forward to five more. They are:

Some of these maps are reimagined versions of some classic Valve maps and others incorporate some unique ideas that utilize recognizable Halloween characters like Merasmus. To go along with these maps, players can search for Spectral Stash Cases or pick up three community-made taunts and 15 community-crafted Unusual effects from the Mann Co. Store.

The full patch notes can be found on the Team Fortress 2 Steam page. Look for Scream Fortress to last all the way through November 7. The new holiday-themed maps can be found by searching through the Special Events category in Casual matchmaking.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can’t enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
