Capcom Cup 12 PPV pricing is being reviewed, but tickets will still likely be sold

0

Capcom is ‘carefully discussing the matter with all relevant parties,’ but it seems Capcom Cup 12 tickets will still be sold starting in November.

Since Capcom began announcing major details for this year’s annual Street Fighter tournament, Capcom Cup 12, the detail about having to pay to watch the competition has riled fans around the world. It was already the case in Japan, but extending the PPV model worldwide has rattled viewers that once enjoyed watching Capcom Cup for free. Capcom has seen the complaints and promised to discuss the matter internally, and that still seems to be the case. However, the group also reiterated that Capcom Cup tickets and PPV pricing will still be in place worldwide, even as final details are ironed out.

Capcom announced updated details on Capcom Cup 12 from the Capcom Fighters social media this week. There, Capcom announced that it intends to stick to the plan of charging for Capcom Cup and Street Fighter League in PPV format. Tickets to view the events will start going on sale on November 12, but pricing is still being discussed.

This news will be little solace for critics that have complained that it’s unfair to suddenly charge for Capcom Cup viewing after allowing free viewing for years. Nonetheless, it seems Capcom isn’t backing down from that much, even though Street Fighter 6 developers themselves were caught off guard by the announcement. The only thing under review seems to be making sure pricing is fair enough, but that remains to be announced.

And so, it seems that Capcom Cup 12 viewership is at least going to cost. As we watch to see the final details on that, or any change of mind from Capcom itself, stay tuned to the Capcom Cup 12 topic for more updates.
