Perhaps there’s no one who’s more excited to see the return of Henry Cavill as Superman than Man of Steel director Zack Snyder. After Cavill recently returned to the role of Superman, the actor formally announced that he’s back and sticking around as the Man of Steel for some time to come. The news has obviously gotten many fans excited, and that anticipation has extended to Snyder, who’s eager to see his favorite Superman back in action.
Per THR, Cavill was taking part in an interview with Josh Horowitz of MTV at 92nd Street Y in New York on Wednesday. He was surprised with a special video recorded by Snyder, who addressed the Man of Steel’s return. After asking Cavill to explain how it felt to film his flying scenes as Superman, Snyder went on to state how much he wants to reunite with Cavill on a new project while touting him as the greatest Superman actor of them all. As Snyder said:
“I can’t wait to work with you in the future, and you are, of course, the greatest Superman ever.”
Touched by the support, Cavill had this to say in response.
“He’s a lovely man, and I’m enormously appreciative of everything he’s done for me, especially by casting me in Man of Steel. Those are formative memories of mine, career-wise. It was when everything changed. And, I remember them fondly… Amazing memories and lots to be thankful for, so, Zack… thank you. Thank you, my friend.”
Is Man of Steel 2 Going to Happen?
We now have Henry Cavill back in the DC Universe in his Superman role, but does that mean that Man of Steel 2 will finally happen? This is something fans have been clamoring for for years, but it wasn’t until recently, thanks in part to great efforts made by The Rock, that Cavill’s comeback was finally allowed to happen. With new leadership looking over all upcoming DC-based projects, it certainly seems possible that there could be more to come, especially with Snyder noting that he can’t wait to work with Cavill again. Why not on another Man of Steel movie?
With that said, Superman may have other things to take care of first. He is in the sights of The Rock’s Black Adam for an eventual crossover, and we can be sure that will be an epic battle. Black Adam actor Aldis Hodge has pitched a trilogy of films leading up to a Black Adam vs. Superman battle, while Dwayne Johnson has also been teasing that fans will see much more of Cavill’s Superman. In any case, the Man of Steel is back, and wherever he turns up next, fans will be ready for it with open arms.
