Two of the newest Pokémon to be revealed for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Bellibolt and Farigiraf, have now been given fan-made shiny forms. In addition to official announcements, the newest Pokémon games have seen leakers reveal Pokémon Scarlet and Violet‘s roster of Pokémon.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have been steadily building up hype ahead of next month’s release through a series of trailers and reveals. In addition to various gameplay features, many new Pokémon have naturally also made their debut. This trend began with the announcement of the new Starter trio of Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly, before moving on to the mascot Legendaries and other Pokémon that inhabit the Paldea Region. These newer reveals have been presented in a variety of ways. These have ranged from Grafaiai being caught by a camera trap, to a pair of streams from Electric-type Gym Leader Iono, who officially revealed her own partner Pokémon Bellibolt in a manner reminiscent of the anime’s classic ‘Who’s That Pokémon?’ game.
As reported by Game Rant, both Bellibolt and fellow newcomer Farigiraf have now been given shiny recolors by Reddit user HertzBurst. In these new designs, Bellibolt becomes brown with blue electricity, which is intended to give the Pokémon a color scheme closer to that of toads. Farigiraf, meanwhile, also gains blue highlights for its mane, nose, and hooves, while the orange portions of its body become yellow. Shiny Pokémon in general are highly prized by the Pokémon community for their rarity, which makes them highly elusive. In fact, one Pokémon fan recently found a Shiny Rayquaza after 14 years of not seeing any at all.
Fanmade Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Shinies Look Plausible
It should be noted that HertzBurst’s designs, as well as being creative and well-made, also have logic supporting them as possible Shiny forms. Bellibolt is the EleFrog Pokémon, and so colors similar to those of frogs and toads create a perfect avenue to explore. Farigiraf, meanwhile, is the new evolution of Girafarig, and the inspiration here is clear to see. Much like HertzBurst’s Shiny Farigiraf, a Shiny Girafarig has a blue mane, nose, and hooves. Similarly, Shiny Girafarig’s coat is orange instead of its usual yellow, and HertzBurst has echoed that change with their normally-orange Farigiraf now colored Girafarig-yellow instead. This means that both Pokémon designs look that much more believable as Shinies. Of course, some official Shiny Pokémon can have rather strange designs, like Deino, whose Shiny form looks like Evil Kermit to some fans.
These are a pair of very clever designs. HertzBurst has drawn on both Bellibolt’s real-world inspiration and the example set by the official Shiny Girafarig design in order to produce these two new unofficial Shinies. It will be very interesting to see just how close they were to the official designs when Scarlet and Violet are released next month. HertzBurst’s designs do look very believable, especially in the case of their Farigiraf, which so closely echoes both the regular and Shiny forms of its pre-evolution. Of course, for fans to find out for themselves, they will first have to see how Shiny hunting works in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Hopefully, it will be a relatively smooth process.
