Rick Hoffman, who played Louis Litt in Suits, is open to reprising his role for a potential spinoff. Initially introduced as an underhanded junior partner at the prestigious law firm Pearson Hardman, Hoffman’s character often clashed with Gabriel Macht’s Harvey Specter throughout the show’s nine-season run. While development on a new Suits spinoff show set in Los Angeles is currently underway, executive producer Gene Klein previously revealed that he and series creator Aaron Korsh once considered plans for Hoffman to receive his own show following the short-lived Pearson series starring Gina Torres.

While speaking with GamesRadar+, Hoffman said he would be happy to reprise his role for either a series revival or spinoff, describing his time on the original show as “the role of a lifetime.” Suggesting that his fellow castmates were lucky to have the show continue for as long as it did, he hopes that any plans for the show live up to the quality of the original. Check out his comments below:

We were so lucky to have it go for so long and I think the way it wrapped up it – it wrapped up. And so, ultimately, what would you have if we did have another season or, I mean, if people just wanted to see us around the office again, I’m sure they could cook something up.

I just hope the quality would be good. So, absolutely. I would do it in a heartbeat because it’s the job that changed my entire life, and it was such a wonderful experience. So, of course, I just hope that whatever, if they did it, it would match up to some of those seasons that were stellar. It was the role of a lifetime. How am I gonna get to do the things that they had me do? The next job I have is like, Detective green beans coming in. Go gimme your badges and then I’m out. That’s it. See ya.

Why Louis Litt Needs To Show Up In Suits: Los Angeles

While there are no official plans to have Hoffman headline his own show, it is possible that Louis Litt could potentially show up in Korsh’s planned Suits spinoff based in Los Angeles. Despite its new West Coast setting, the new offshoot is likely to feature the same high-profile clients that Louis’ firm of Litt, Wheeler, Williams, Bennett are known to specialize in. As such, it is possible that the spinoff’s new group of lawyers could potentially share clients with Louis’ New York-based firm or even find themselves on opposite sides of the same lawsuit.

Another option, which could potentially lead to a much more important role for Hoffman, is that Suits: Los Angeles could look to introduce a new West Coast office of Litt, Wheeler, Williams, Bennett. Given Louis’ ambitious nature and constant drive, it is possible that in the years since the main show, he could have looked to establish a bi-coastal presence for his firm under his tenure as managing partner. Such a move would not only provide opportunities for Hoffman’s character to appear, but it would also establish a valuable link to the original show.

As one of the more memorable characters from the original Suits, having Hoffman return as the managing partner of the new show’s firm could also set up some interesting dynamics with whoever is selected to run his Los Angeles office. Moreover, by having the focus of Suits: Los Angeles be an extension of the show’s original firm, it could potentially open the door for other cameo appearances. Whether this is the direction Korsh will take in his new spinoff remains to be seen, but regardless, viewers would still be keen to see Hoffman come back as Louis Litt.

Suits is available to stream on Netflix and Peacock.
