Golden Globe winner Kiefer Sutherland (24, Designated Survivor) is in final negotiations to star in the lead role for the upcoming revenge action movie, titled Hour of Reckoning. This marks Sutherland’s latest action thriller, after starring as Sgt. Billy Breaker in the recently released Stone Cold Fox with Krysten Ritter. At the moment, The Lost Boys star is currently in production for Luc Besson’s French thriller movie Father Joe with Al Pacino.
What do we know about Kiefer Sutherland’s revenge movie?
“When a retired lawman (Sutherland) returns to his dying hometown to investigate his brother’s mysterious death, he uncovers a brutal criminal empire led by a charismatic psychopath who rules through fear and corruption,” reads the official synopsis. “As he digs deeper into a web of drug and human trafficking, his pursuit of truth ignites a violent war for justice—pitting one man’s code against an entire town. Hour of Reckoning is a gritty, high-octane revenge thriller that turns one man’s hunt for the truth into a scorched-earth war against corruption.”
According to Deadline, Hour of Reckoning will be directed by Vaughn Stein (Terminal), with Chuck Hustmyre writing the script. The project hails from John Wick franchise producer Thunder Road. Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Will Flynn are producing for Thunder Road, along with Mike Gabrawy for Midnight Express, and Richard Lewis for Southpaw. Production is expected to begin in early 2026.
“Hour Of Reckoning is a brutal and deeply human story — a modern western about justice, guilt, and redemption,” Stein said in a statement. “It’s about a man standing alone against decay and violence, and Kiefer brings the weight and soul that makes it real.”
