Entourage: Ari Gold’s Best Moments, Ranked

0

Since the release of HBO’s Emmy award-winning show Entourage, Ari Gold has become a household name. Entourage’s Ari Gold is closely modeled after Mark Walhberg’s real life agent Ari Emmanuel. An alpha male by nature, Ari Gold is equal parts ferocious as he is tenacious. Yet there is a soft, endearing side to him that often gets lost beneath his aggressive veneer.

Fictionally considered to be the most powerful agent Hollywood can boast off, Ari Gold’s despicable drive to succeed, paired with his eccentric ways makes him a delight to watch. The Hollywood powerhouse is played by Jeremy Piven and is one of the rare few characters that successfully makes the audience feel a range of emotions within the span of a single episode, from anger to awe, from disgust to love. Ari Gold is an explosion of emotions ready to go off at the drop of a hat.

Ari Gold’s mass appeal transferred from on screen to off-screen as it earned Jeremy Piven 3 consecutive Emmy Awards. Despite his oeuvre and charm, some people may think Ari Gold’s ways are twisted and manipulative, but one thing is for sure, you may love him or hate him, but you can’t ignore him. Here are some of Ari Gold’s Best Moments from Entourage, Ranked.

6/6 Ari Gold Getting Fired by Terrence McQuewick

If there’s one hallmark of Ari Gold, it’s his uncanny ability to get his way. In the 12 episode of season 2, Ari conspired to go behind his boss and mentor Terrence Mcquewick’s back, but walks straight into a trap. Terrence preempts Ari’s move and fires him for being a traitor.

As Ari tries to rally support from his colleagues, he only manages to convince his loyal, secretary Loyd. But Loyd comes with a set of conditions of his own — Ari has to always apologize after making offensive remarks about Loyd’s race and sexual orientation.

That settled, the duo leave the office premises and Loyd’s drops Ari home in his Subaru since Ari’s company car has been taken away. Ari’s down and thinks his life’s over. This hilarious bit of dialogue encapsulates Ari’s wit in a single sentence “I drove to work in an 80,000 Mercedes, now, I’m driving home in a prop car from The Fast and Furious’”.

5/6 Ari Asks E if He Wants to Hug it Out ?

In the second episode of the first season titled ‘The Review’, Ari calls his star client Vince (loosely based after Mark Whalberg) and E, Vince’s manager to his office. Vince’s is a bit disoriented because of a review for his latest movie, while Ari assures them to not pay it any attention since it’s not even a real paper. Situation under control, Ari asks E to stay back and then lays into him, teaching E a thing or two about how things are done in Hollywood — that is, you book your next job before the movie comes out. Once everything is said and done, Ari asks E, the now iconic line “Let’s hug it out b****h”

4/6 Ari Gold Tries to Bring the NFL to LA

Even though Ari has a heart of gold, there are instances where his temperament gets the better of him. In the 7th episode of season seven, Ari is seen preparing for his pitch with the NFL investors, while a rumor of a tape released by his ex-employee surfaces. The tapes put Ari in a very questionable position and could potentially cost him his family along with the NFL deal. It’s then we see a very vulnerable and emotional side of Ari, almost begging and pleading with his ex-employee not to release the tapes and sabotage the NFL deal. Despite the chaos, Ari still projects a picture of normalcy, though it’s not enough to convince the NFL’s top brass and the deal eventually collapses.

3/6 Ari Crashing His Brand-New Ferrari

In season five, episode three, Ari gets the surprise of his life. His wife gifts him a brand-new Ferrari. Ari being Ari, he wastes no time in taking the car for a spin and getting his adrenaline pumping. He spots fellow rival agent Adam Davies in his Porsche and gets into a race through the streets of LA. Ari loses the race and in turn the bet, but ends up sending Davies a hundred dollar bill, covered in s**t. Guess it’s Adam Davies who’s the real loser here…

2/6 Mr. & Mrs. Gold at the Therapist’s Office

In one of the most memorable scenes of the whole show, Ari and his wife Melissa are at the therapist’s office with Melissa thinking that losing Vince as a client has pushed Ari into depression. Melissa and the psychiatrist team up on Ari and pound him with questions and then BOOM! Ari Gold explodes into a hilarious rant. In this particular scene, Jeremy Piven flexes his acting chops and changes the entire graph off the scene in a single moment, inscribing this scene in the mind of every Entourage fan.

1/6 Ari Gold Shoots His Enemies With a Paintball Gun

Whenever someone rubs us the wrong way, we want to get back, but often times we let it slide. Not Ari Gold. In probably Ari’s most memorable scene of the whole show, Ari agrees to takeover from Terrence and heads to his old office with a paintball gun seeking revenge on everyone who wronged him. As soon as the elevator door opens, chaos ensues; Ari starts firing paintball pellets at various agents and finally reaches his primary target — Adam Davies. Davies tells him he knows that he’s fired and has already packed his things and wants to leave in peace, Ari laughs and says it’s too late for that and sprays Davies. Towards the end of the scene, Ari yells out a message for Loyd, who’s hiding behind a desk. In a very quintessential sense, Ari tells him “Return to the King or exile yourself from this town forever”
