Anya Taylor-Joy is recalling the advice her mom gave to her after she was bullied for her looks.
While promoting her new movie, The Menu, the 26-year-old actress stopped by The Drew Barrymore Show this week and opened up about the times she was bullied when she was younger.

Anya said she thanked her parents for giving her advice that helped her see past any negative interactions with her peers.
“I was very, very lucky with my parents because when I was bullied for my looks, my mom always said, ‘You look at the inside of somebody, you look at the inside of somebody,’ ” she shared on the show. “You don’t look at class, you don’t look at anything like that. You don’t look at what they do for a job. It’s just: ‘Do you like that person’s heart?’”
Anya added that she wanted to “give a big shout-out to my mom for that [advice] because it was really helpful.”
