Even though gas prices are projected to decrease over the next several months, money expert Clark Howard and Team Clark want you to pay as little as you can for fuel. One way to do that is to drive a fuel-efficient car.
Vehicle research site iSeeCars.com recently listed the most fuel-efficient cars based on gas mileage.
The iSeeCars list was compiled by analyzing more than 20 million vehicles and assigning them a Quality Score (from 1-10) based on the cars’ reliability, resale value and safety ratings.

Clark says the absolute best time to buy a vehicle will be when car prices drop. New car prices are trending downward, but they’re still expensive. When it comes to prices for used cars, “they’ve come way down, but they’re still inflated from what they were before Covid,” he says.

Clark says if you need to purchase a vehicle right now, steer clear of your local dealership, which typically has deluxe model cars full of options vs. the standard affordable ones.
“Automakers are … shipping dealers vehicles that are optioned out,” Clark says. “So you’ve got the higher interest rates to buy a vehicle, and you have the manufacturer shipping vehicles that are all optioned out and more expensive, and that’s causing a train wreck now for car dealers.”
