As Samsung continues to plug away its One UI 6 testing, the company is releasing a preemptive update for a module to help one-handed use.
According to SamMobile, the Korean OEM rolled out update 6.6.19 for One Hand Operation Plus for Galaxy devices, which brings a little more customization for users. The update now offers a “show recent apps” option when heading into its Quick Launcher settings.
Instead of displaying a user’s list of “favorites,” the app will show what you’ve recently accessed so you can hop back in quickly.
Moreover, long-pressing an app will create a small floating window with options to open it in split-screen or a separate pop-up window. After updating, it was apparently discovered that the additional Quick Launcher option is available on Galaxy devices’ current OS. However, the long-press function isn’t (likely awaiting One UI 6).
The minor update has also seemingly removed the “hide handle” setting from One Hand Operation Plus’ assignable actions list. In doing so, it appears that users can no longer disable the module with swipe gestures.
Users can download the updated One Hand Operation Plus module for Good Lock via the Galaxy Store or off the Play Store.
One UI 6 (Android 14) is Samsung’s next major software release for its many devices, but the brand is also looking at updating the core of its customization features. In giving us an early preview of what’s in store for Good Lock, users shouldn’t expect a feature-rich update this year as Samsung is looking to iron out some “complexities” and improve its overall quality.
A few highlights of the update include Edge Lighting for more devices, Sound Assistant updates, and Wonderland features.
We are still waiting for One UI 6 to arrive on Galaxy devices, though a bit of good news is the Galaxy S23 recently entered its eighth beta for the software. Samsung didn’t include much of what testers could expect beyond “software stability improvements.” Also, there’s a possibility we’re closing in on the final patches before the software arrives for everyone as Beta 8 lands.
Understated grandeur
Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra is in line to receive several major Android software releases, ensuring users are kept in the now.
