Bored Ape Creator Yuga Labs Acquires PROOF – NFTgators

Yuga Labs has acquired Web3 project PROOF according to press material shared with NFTgators. The company now expands its portfolio of NFT projects, which already includes the likes of Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, CryptoPunnks, Meebits, TwelveFold and Otherdeeds, among others.

Yuga Labs plans to add Moonbirds, PROOF’s leading NFT project to Otherside, its metaverse project. Also joining the Yuga Labs portfolio will be the PROOF Collective, Oddities, Mythics, and Grails exhibition series.

“The acquisition of PROOF’s assets, including its team, intellectual property, and artistic portfolio,  aligns with Yuga’s vision to become the front door of web3,” Yuga Labs wrote in a statement on Friday.

Commenting on the announcement, Daniel Alegre, CEO of Yuga Labs said the acquisition of PROOF is an illustration of his company’s commitment to to championing art, culture, and community on the blockchain.

“Moonbirds is a collection with great potential and many unifying brand elements with Otherside. We look forward to PROOF Collective becoming an important part of our ongoing art and community engagement efforts,” Alegre said.

According to the announcement, Kevin Rose, CEO & Founder of PROOF will become an advisor to Yuga Labs following the completion of the handover, with the PROOF team also taking some key positions at Yuga. 

Josh Ong, Jesse Bryan, and Amanda Gadbow have been tasked with overseeing the transition of the Moonbirds collection and other key elements into the Yuga ecosystem. 

Kevin Rose said the move to Otherside was perfect for the future of his company’s NFT collectors. “With the PROOF Collective on board, it shows Yuga’s commitment to digital fine art, and our combined resources will allow us to innovate faster and reach more people. It’s going to be an exciting journey,” Rose said.
