Hamzah Sheeraz: Briton dreams of becoming three-weight boxing world champion

After the win, promoter Frank Warren compared his fighter’s jab to that of the great Tommy Hearns.

“It’s an honour to have my name in the same sentence,” Sheeraz told BBC Sport.

“Even to be recognised as replicating such a great Kronk [gym] style of fighting. To show the power. But it’s more so my frame than anything; skinny, strong, long.”

Slough native Sheeraz, who trains at the Ten Goose gym in Los Angeles, places Eubank Jr at the top of his hitlist.

“He’s an explosive fighter and strong but I’m building up to that reputation too. It’s got the ingredients of being a great fight,” Sheeraz said.

“Whether that’s realistic next or not, I don’t know. Although it has generated the public’s interest and when the public get hold of something then more often than not the fights do happen.”

The experienced Eubank Jr, with 33 wins and three defeats, is a huge draw in British boxing, but no contact has been made with his team yet.

Eubank Jr dropped Williams four times in a one-sided win in 2022.

Sheeraz added: “If he believes he’s better than me, let’s dance.”
