As the regular season nears a close, the NFL announced this year’s selections for the Pro Bowl.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy and Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa reached their first-time selections, making it the first occurrence that each slated starting player at the position earned their first nod since 1999.
Purdy has put together an impressive campaign while leading the 49ers to the top overall NFC playoff seed. He will finish the regular season ranked first with a 113.0 passer rating along with 4,280 passing yards, and 31 touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Tagovailoa bounced back after an injury-plagued 2022 season by posting career highs with 4,451 passing yards, 28 touchdown passes, and a 103.0 passer rating.
The 49ers received the most players selected for the Pro Bowl while the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys each had seven players.
There were other notable standouts to earn the nomination with rookies as Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua and Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta received the nod.
Meanwhile, the other quarterbacks chosen were Ravens’ Lamar Jackson, Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, Cowboys’ Dak Prescott, and Rams’ Matthew Stafford.
