Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojević hospitalized after medical emergency

Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojević was hospitalized last night after suffering a medical episode at a private team dinner at a restaurant in Salt Lake City.

The emergency was described as “sudden and serious,” according to ESPN.

Milojević, 46, was traveling with the team ahead of their Wednesday game against the Utah Jazz. The NBA announced Wednesday afternoon that the game was postponed due to the situation.

“The date for the rescheduled game will be announced at a later time,” the league said.

The team said updates about the coach’s condition would be given “as appropriate.”

No other details about the incident or Milojević’s condition were released.

Sportsklub — a Balkans sports website — reported the coach suffered a heart attack. The outlet said he remains in serious condition after undergoing surgery.

The Warriors are currently 18-22 and out of the Western Conference playoff picture.

Milojevic, a former star for the Serbian national team, previously played professional basketball in Serbia, Spain, Montenegro, and Turkey. He won was the Adriatic League Most Valuable Player three times from 2004-06 before starting to coach in Europe and shepherding several young players, including Denver Nuggets MVP Nikola Jokic, to the NBA. He joined the Warriors’ coaching staff in 2021.
