Driver charged with murder for mowing down Bronx scooter rider in fit of road rage: NYPD

A driver accused of mowing down a young Bronx dad-to-be on a scooter in a fit of road rage has been charged with murder, police said Monday.

The fatal clash was sparked by victim Robert Jiminez making contact with the passenger-side mirror on the the driver’s Honda Civic, cops revealed Monday.

The 23-year-old father-to-be was on his way to pick up money from his dad when he got into an argument with Lillibeth Vasquez after making contact with the mirror on her Honda Civic about 2:20 p.m. Saturday, police said.

When Jiminez drove off against traffic on one-way Fox St. in Longwood Vasquez, 28, allegedly came up behind him and slammed her car into his scooter near Intervale Ave.

Medics rushed the victim to Lincoln Hospital with severe body trauma but he could not be saved.

Vasquez was taken to the same hospital in stable condition with pelvic injuries. Police said her license lists an Allentown, Pa., address.

She was charged with murder and manslaughter Sunday afternoon.

Jimenez had asked to use his dad’s car for a night out Saturday. But his dad was using the vehicle and so asked his son to come by and pick up cab fare instead.

Jimenez borrowed a friend’s motorized scooter to get over to his dad’s place.

“He said, ‘I’ll be there in twenty minutes,” his father, Milton Jimenez, told the Daily News Sunday. “He never came. … He was supposed to come here to get the money.”

The son’s girlfriend is seven months pregnant and now Robert will never get to meet his unborn daughter, the grieving dad said.

“I hope she never comes out of jail,” Milton said of Jimenez. “What she did, she’s got the devil inside her.”

Vasquez’s arraignment was pending in Bronx Criminal Court Monday.
