Recently, I bought myself a pack of nail brushes to leave at every sink in my home, including the kitchen’s. I originally bought these to help keep my manicure pristine, but ended up not needing them as much as I thought (and definitely not enough to warrant having four in constant use).
It quickly became clear that the clean brush in my kitchen could have another use, though: Turns out, it’s perfect for scrubbing potatoes clean. Now, these super affordable little brushes are my meal-prep MVP.
What You Should Know About Larbois’ Handle Grip Nail Brushes
Larbois exclusively sells nail brushes, from heavy-duty options to wooden ones and more. I opted for brushes with a plastic handle that wraps around my hand so they would be easy to hold while cleaning my nails. That same handle also makes it really easy to scrub a slippery potato under running water.
These best-selling nail brushes are hugely popular, with Amazon shoppers having bought more than 10,000 in the past month alone. Plus, they’ve racked up more than 11,600 five-star ratings. It makes total sense, considering they’re super useful, good quality, and go for $6 for four. (That’s just $1.50 per brush!)
My Honest Review of Larbois’ Handle Grip Nail Brushes
It wasn’t until I decided to try Courtney Cook’s viral cheese-filled sweet potatoes that I realized just how useful these little brushes could be in the kitchen. I usually don’t eat the skins of sweet potatoes (frankly, I usually buy them already peeled and diced from my local grocery store). So, I knew I wanted to clean it really well before pouring olive oil and salt all over it and baking it.
That’s where this little tool came in. Because it’s meant for your hands, its bristles are pretty soft to the touch, but it can seriously scrub. I really appreciate this because it doesn’t tear up the potato skin. Not to mention, if I accidentally brush it against my other hand while cleaning the potato, it doesn’t hurt me at all.
The wraparound handle is a big selling point of these brushes for me. It makes it so easy to get a good grip while washing potatoes (or other veggies) in the sink. Bonus: Because I can slip my hand through the handle, it also doesn’t mess up my nails the way scrubbing with a sponge sometimes can. See? It ended up being good for my nails after all.
