A trailer for the brand new Warhammer roguelite game from Auroch Digital (Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun), in partnership with poncle (Vampire Survivors) is here and, well, it’s a lot like Vampire Survivors. In fact, they even share half a title. Warhammer Survivors is coming next year and based on the trailer, it’s going to include a lot of bullet hell goodness, but this time couched in the universes of Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.
Per a press release about the game, Warhammer Survivors is going to take the “relentless and charming pixel-vomit gameplay” fans of Vampire Survivors love and mix it with “the globally renowned grimdark of the Warhammer universes.” While one of those sounds far more pleasant than the other, it’s hard to ignore how much chaotic fun is in that trailer. It’s also worth noting that the press release calls Warhammer Survivors part of the “official Survivors lineage.” Granted, that doesn’t mean you’ll be fighting vampires; instead, the enemies are swarms of Tyranids for the Warhammer 40,000 side, and the hordes of Skaven for Age of Sigmar.
The trailer reveals some of the characters you’ll get to play in Warhammer Survivors, plucked from the two settings of 40,000 and Age of Sigmar. On the Warhammer 40K side, Boltgun‘s Malum Caedo, can be joined by the Cadian Shock Trooper, Trooper Kozlowski, and the Space Marine Intercessor, Brother Luca.
If you’re more of an Age of Sigmar player, be prepared to take control of God-king Sigmar’s warrior Neave Blacktalon. She can be joined by monster-slayer Gotrek Gurnisson and Stormcast Eternal Vanquisher Sharynn Azurwrath.
More playable characters will be revealed in the months to come. The game will include multiple modes and stages, as well as weapons pulled from the Warhammer franchise. Among the weaponry you’ll be using to fight the endless hordes of enemies are the Boltgun, Astartes Chainsword, and the Whirlwind Axes. Naturally, the game will also be loaded with Easter eggs nodding to many corners of the Warhammer universe. The press release even notes players will be able to use a pot of Citadel Nuln Oil as a weapon.
While Warhammer Survivors won’t be available until 2026, the game is available on Steam right now for wishlisting purposes. And if you’re looking to beef up your rouguelite skills before it drops, Vampire Survivors is out there waiting for you.
