“They’re making a broader point that devs should be allowed to experiment and fail in new genres rather than be confined to what they’re known for. Otherwise we’d never have gotten games like Horizon, Left 4 Dead, PT, Uncharted, etc.”
Phil will continue and let Xbox first party studios to try new genres just like Fable, Avowed, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Project Mara, Project Midnight, Project Cobalt and more.
Hopefully the days of just Halo, Forza and Gears as the only mainstream Xbox IPs will be over rather sooner than later.
