Nintendo Store app available now on Android and iOS outside of Japan

The app gives access to the digital Nintendo store front where users can purchase games and apps, and queue them for download to linked devices.

Nintendo has rolled out the global launch of its Nintendo Store app on mobile devices outside of Japan this week. The app has landed on iOS and Android stores via the App Store and Google Play, respectively. Through the app, users can purchase Nintendo games and apps through their mobile devices and queue up downloads to registered consoles.

Nintendo launched the Store app with pages on Apple’s App Store and Android’s Google Play. The app had been available in Japan already, but was rolled out globally this week. The main feature is access to the My Nintendo Store, where you can log into your Nintendo account and directly make purchases of Nintendo products and merch (although it cautions that physical merch may not be available in all regions). The app will also keep users informed on new info on games and sales in the store. If your console is linked to your Nintendo account, you can even review your play activity.

One of the more interesting aspects that may make the Nintendo Store app a must-have for Nintendo fans is the ability to check in at events. Nintendo includes this detail from its app store pages below:

There’s little detail at this time, but it suggests that when Nintendo hosts special events (such as possible game release events at locations like the Nintendo Store in New York City or the Super Nintendo World attraction at Universal Studios’ theme park), then the Nintendo Store App will be your way to check in and likely collect rewards and bonuses for attendance.

With the global rollout of the Nintendo Store app, it’s just another way Nintendo has been interconnecting its products and services to create a bigger ecosystem. Stay tuned to the Nintendo topic for more updates and news.
