PS5 console owners can grab a fresh firmware update for the console–Version: 25.07-12.20.00–and alongside the usual stability upgrades, there are also a few other tweaks being made to the hardware. Beyond that, stability improvements have also been made to the DualSense Edge wireless controller, messages and usability on some screens have been enhanced, and system performance has also been brushed up. Here’s a closer look at the brief update notes from Sony:

This is the second console firmware update this month, as a quick stability upgrade was introduced at the start of October. In general, 2025 has been light on big changes to the PS5, with the only notable updates being the return of the classic PlayStation console user interfaces and big changes to activity settings between incremental tweaks to the console.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the first system’s launch in the US and Europe, and if you’re looking to improve your IRL stability, you can preorder new shoes that pay tribute to the PlayStation and are packaged inside of limited-edition boxes that evoke its ’90s design sensibility.
PlayStation: The First 30 Years is a deluxe book chronicling the creation of the original PlayStation console, and it’s also available to preorder currently. On the game front, Sony has also just released one of its biggest first-party console exclusives of the year, Ghost of Yotei, and the PS Plus Game Catalog has been updated with some frightfully good titles.
