International Cellphone Cinema Showcase-Cannes may 25

A forerunner of the French New Wave, Alexandre Astruc wrote in his 1948 essay: 

The Camera Stylo (Camera Pen) is in the hand of the Director to write the film, so the Director is the final authority.

He was emphasizing the importance of the Director when it was still in question.

We took his metaphor of this imaginary Camera Stylo and applied it to Cell Phone Cinema as the Smart Phone is the real Camera Pen today that everybody carries around in their pocket,  and they can make (write)  a film anytime with it.

With the Smart Phones we can teach the Language of Film to masses of people and create a more educated audience.

As a result, Citizens May become Citizen Journalists making an impact on Society on a host of social issues.
