On living in apartments next to each other while filming in Toronto:
D“We would literally just go to set, go home, cook, work out together, and geek out over how excited we were to finally be working on this level. If we were any less close, we probably would’ve gotten annoyed with each other really quick.”
On mapping out love scenes:
“The kiss is going to be a little more passionate and hungry this time, or we’re kind of hiding from each other, so now it’s going to be more restricted and p-rny to show the lack of emotion. There are some lovey-dovey, intimate soft moments and then there’re some powerful getting-off moments.”
On immersing himself in the fandom after getting the gig:
“My algorithm has been Heated Rivalry from the moment I started with these characters. I’ve gaslit myself into believing that this is just for me and the 10,000 people who love the book.”
On playing up their chemistry on the press tour:
“If Hudson says something jokingly, like, ‘Spit in my mouth,’ I think that gives everyone else the go-ahead to get in on that too. People are ruthless talking about our holes and our butts.”
On his relationship with Hudson Williams:
“For me, it doesn’t feel spicy at all — like, that’s me and my best friend. This is the first time in my life I’m having this many eyes on me. They’ve seen me naked, they’ve seen me kiss, they’ve seen me be in love with a man on screen — it’s only normal for people to try to transfer that over to mine and Hudson’s real life.”
On maintaining his privacy, and addressing questions about his love life:
“I feel honored to be able to bring someone to life that so many people feel seen, understood, and represented by, and I think that transcends whoever I’m sleeping with in my real life.”
On wanting to emulate Robert Pattinson‘s career:
“He swings really bold on his characters. He’s one of those people who’s so good it makes me jealous. Like, Damn, I want to do that.”
On his other hobby, making music and clowning:
“It’s literally called rhythmic noise — not, like, EDM stuff but kind of old school, very German, very Russian, big in Europe in the ’90s…I’m making music or I’m doing clown. I don’t watch a lot of stuff. I have to be doing something.”
