Andy Dick confirms he’s stable after overdose scare
Andy Dick, a veteran stand-up comedian and actor, was found unresponsive and slumped over on cement stairs outside a building in Hollywood during the day on Tuesday. This immediately sparked concerns of an overdose, with onlookers and witnesses trying to aid and revive him.
TMZ obtained pics of Andy in the state. Since the incident, Dick has confirmed to TMZ that he was okay. However, he refused to share any other details about the incident. A representative for the Los Angeles Fire Department told TMZ that they had responded to the call of an overdose, but Dick was not transported to the hospital.
Reports state that Dick was given Narcan, a drug designed to reverse the effects of an overdose, at the scene.
Andy Dick has a long history of substance abuse. Back in 2012, the actor and comedian confirmed that he had been in and out of rehab around 10 times. “I would always say that I didn’t have a problem with drugs and alcohol,” he told Vice back then, “But I would drink when I was happy, when I was sad, when I was anxious.” He added, “Without drugs or alcohol, I was depressed, frustrated, angry.”
He has also been previously convicted of drug-related offences.
Andy Dick is best known for several Comedy Central Roasts. However, he has also made multiple appearances on film and television. His credits include The Cable Guy, Road Trip, Zoolander, Freaky Deaky, Johnny Bravo, Batman Beyond, and Family Guy, among others.
