Do you have one of the popular Amazon credit cards in your wallet? Get ready for a new look.
Amazon and Chase recently announced their co-branded rewards credit cards have been rebranded with a new name, new look, updated rewards structure and a limited-time sign-up bonus offer.
These updates went into effect on May 1, 2023.
Let’s take a look at what both existing cardholders and prospective applicants need to know about these changes.
New Card Names and New Card Designs
This is not an announcement for a new credit card from Amazon. Instead, the branding for both Chase co-branded Amazon credit cards has been overhauled.
The Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card and Amazon Rewards Visa Card are now simply known as Prime Visa and Amazon Visa, respectively.
Neither has an annual fee, but you’ll need an Amazon Prime subscription to make the most of the Prime Visa’s rewards structure (more on that in a minute).
Here’s a look at the branding updates to help alleviate any confusion:

Updated Rewards Structure
Perhaps more important than a fresh name and new card design is the update to the rewards structure for both credit cards.
Chase has added two bonus rewards opportunities to each of these cards. You can now enjoy up to 5% back on trips booked through Chase Travel and 2% back on transit purchases.
The bonus rewards for Amazon and Whole Foods Market purchases with both cards remain unchanged.
Neither card has an annual fee, though Prime Visa requires an eligible Amazon Prime membership ($139 per year or $14.99 per month) to earn the full value in some bonus rewards categories.

Prime Visa: Rewards Rundown
- NEW: 5% back on purchases made through Chase Travel, with an eligible Prime membership
- NEW: 2% back on local transit and commuting, including rideshare
- 5% back at Amazon and Whole Foods Market, with an eligible Prime membership
- 2% back at restaurants and at gas stations
- 1% back on all other purchases
Amazon Visa: Rewards Rundown
- NEW: 3% back on purchases made through Chase Travel
- NEW: 2% back on local transit and commuting, including rideshare

Daily Rewards Redemption Is Now Available
In an effort to streamline the rewards process, it’s now making it possible to redeem rewards as soon as the next day after a purchase clears on your card.
Previously, you have had to wait for a monthly accrual of rewards points before you could put them to use.
These rewards can be redeemed via both Amazon and Chase.
Redemption via Amazon:
“During checkout, you can use your rewards to pay for part or all of your purchase. There’s no minimum rewards balance to redeem. 100 points = $1.00 when redeemed toward eligible purchases.”
Redemption via Chase:
“Your points can also be redeemed at Chase for cash back in any amount, gift cards in increments of $25/2,500 points, or for travel with no blackout dates or restrictions.”
Limited-Time Sign-up Bonus Offered to New Cardholders
If you’re considering signing up for this card after seeing the new rewards structure, you also can enjoy a limited-time sign-up bonus for your trouble.
Both cards are offering new applicants a free Amazon gift card and a chance to earn bonus rewards points on spending for a limited time.

Prime Visa Welcome Offer
“New cardmembers will receive a $150 Amazon gift card and can earn 5% back on all purchases, up to $2,500, for three months after account opening.”
Amazon Visa Welcome Offer
“New cardmembers will receive a $60 Amazon gift card and can earn 3% back on all purchases, up to $1,500, for three months after account opening.”
Final Thoughts
As Team Clark’s credit card expert, I have long recommended the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card as one of my favorite rewards credit cards for online shopping.
Even with a new look, name and rewards structure, I believe the Prime Visa is still worthy of this designation.
If you’re a Prime member who frequently shops at Amazon, this card is effectively giving you a 5% discount on everything you purchase. That can really add up!
If you are an Amazon loyalist who doesn’t already have this card, now may be a good time to jump on board.
The $150 Amazon gift card and the additional $125 you could earn in bonus cash back during a limited-time sign-up promotion is an easy way to see early returns on having this card in your wallet.
