Philippe Gonet Brut Reserve Champagne

Philippe Gonet Brut Reserve Champagne

Here’s a new Champagne we found hitting the Costco aisles and decided to give a try. And we’re glad we did as it turned out to be a delicious and elegant wine.

Costco’s price is pretty solid for $39.99; elsewhere online it seemed to consistently be around $50. We noticed some nice scores from the critics too, including the 92 points from Wine Spectator that is highlighted on the Costco placard.

Digging around we found some more information on the wine too. It’s a blend of 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Meunier. And the winery was actually founded in 1830, so they’ve been at this a while.

In the glass the wine is a light yellow with subtle fruit and mineral on the nose; flavors of citrus fruit, green apple and pear; gentle effervescence, feels great in the mouth, good body; crisp in the finish.

This is just a very delightful Champagne that makes you want to smile on every taste. We’re big fans, and will add to our Top Picks list.
