The 16th instalment of one of the greatest rivalries of the modern era takes place on Sunday, as Aryna Sabalenka faces Elena Rybakina in the 2026 Indian Wells final.
Sabalenka defeated Linda Noskova 6-3, 6-4 in her semi-final, while Rybakina overcame Elina Svitolina to win 7-5, 6-4.

Despite Sabalenka narrowly leading the H2H 8-7, Rybakina has won seven out of the last 11 meetings between the pair, and it’s fair to say the current momentum is definitely with her.
Not only did she claim a second Major title against the Belarusian at the Australian Open in January, but she also beat her in the deciding match at the WTA Finals in November last year.
The pair have played a final at Indian Wells before; back in 2023, Rybakina chalked up her first victory over Sabalenka to win the competition.
In terms of their overall career success, Sabalenka’s achievements are certainly clear of Rybakina’s. While the latter has an impressive resume of her own, the world No. 1 has won four Grand Slams and 22 titles overall, outweighing Rybakina’s 2 Majors and 12 titles.
However, Rybakina has shown she has all the tools necessary to compete with her rival, which is why she has defeated her so often.

Despite Rybakina’s success in their previous finals, Sabalenka enters as the slight favourite, with FanDuel pricing her at -152, while the 2023 champion is at +126.
While bookmakers expect a close match, it’s interesting to see Rybakina listed as the underdog. Admittedly, it’s tough to pick against the highest-ranked player, but based on recent performances alone, Rybakina might actually be the safer bet.
The set betting is intriguing. Sabalenka in straight sets is the most likely outcome at +165, with a 2-1 win for her at +280.
A 2-0 Rybakina victory is +270, while a three-set win for the world No. 3 is +410.
The latter option is where the money could be made. These two have gone the distance six times before, including in their last contest. Taking this into account, the odds of a 2-1 win for Rybakina do look favourable.
