A new update has resurfaced one of Mr. Robot’s most persistent questions six years after the series finale. Rami Malek addressed long running speculation about a possible revival, providing a direct response on whether the story or his character could return in any form.
Don’t expect Mr. Robot Season 5, reboot or spin-off with Rami Malek
Mr. Robot drew attention again when Rami Malek confirmed there would be no Season 5, reboot, or spinoff. Malek addressed the topic during Deadline’s Contenders Film: Los Angeles event. He confirmed his position on continuing the 2015 to 2019 series. When asked about revisiting the character, he answered, “No,” adding only that “Sam and I just talked about working together again, but that’s it.”
Malek shifted attention toward his current work on Nuremberg, describing the unexpected contrast he and his castmates experienced while filming. He said, “What’s odd is the juxtaposition of the word ‘fun’ in Nuremberg,” noting how the grim subject matter stood beside the actors’ enjoyment of shaping the characters. He explained, “There are moments where you’re laughing, and that’s what James has done so brilliantly in the script.”
Malek highlighted the appeal of historical storytelling, stating, “I love stories that take us back into history and allow us to retell the story that we think we know.” He added that Nuremberg contained “so many surprises and twists and just a part of history that really will shock you.”
Malek recalled the cast’s reaction on set, saying, “We were salivating as we were watching or taking part in it,” and noted that Michael Shannon and Russell Crowe “enjoyed every second of that.” He added, “We were shooting in Hungary, and at the end of each take there was a standing ovation.” Malek said, “I just threw myself into the nature of what this guy was going through.” He added that he needed to bring “wit, charm” and intelligence to each scene.
