How to get a loadout in Battlefield 6: REDSEC

Giving yourself a custom weapon loadout in Battlefield 6: REDSEC can give you the advantage that separates victory from defeat.

Battlefield 6: REDSEC is an intersection of most of the big battle royale games, and the limited ability to build into a loadout is just one. Knowing how to get your custom-built weapons and class-specific abilities in a match is key to victory. Here’s how.

You can’t get a full custom loadout in Battlefield 6: REDSEC like you would in Warzone, but you can equip two custom-built weapons with more and better attachments than you’d find by looting.

To get your custom weapon loadout, you need to either find and loot a custom weapon drop in a match or, preferably, call one in by completing a mission that rewards it.

Custom weapon drops appear periodically around the map. You’ll know them by their rocket-pod symbols on the minimap and your HUD. The problem with random drops is everyone knows they’re coming and probably wants them. They quickly become live-fire zones as teams rush to grab the goods.

If you instead do a mission that calls in a custom weapon drop for you and your squad, you keep everything for yourself. The missions aren’t any harder, though in my experience, they tend to favor PvP risk missions.

Once you call in your custom weapon drop, you’ll be able to choose between a selection of the custom weapon builds you’ve made and favorited in your Loadouts while outside a match.

To favorite a weapon build, open the skin select screen or the customize screen and press X on keyboard or Square/X on PS5 or Xbox.

Grabbing your custom weapon is just one part of building a loadout. You’ll need to scavenge the map for things like RPGs and Defibrillator kits to fill out a full loadout. Having an airstrike in your back pocket is also a good idea. A solid mid-late game kit looks something like this:

  • One or two custom weapons
  • An RPG or AA launcher
  • A Defibrillator
  • Smoke or frag grenades
  • A mortar or strafing run offensive Strike Package

Even a group of silent, random teammates can pull out an unlikely win if they’re all so equipped. The odds are long, but I’ve seen many a team come out on top with intelligent airstrike usage during the circle closing phase, while using Defibs to keep everyone in their squad in the fight.

John’s been gaming for almost 30 years, starting with Super Mario 64, but his first real love is Final Fantasy. Or Armored Core, depending on how he slept last night. If you want to know where to find an item in a massive open world or how to beat a boss, he can help. They’ve probably kicked his teeth in a few times already. You can normally find him eyes deep in the latest FromSoftware game if he isn’t doing dailies in the half-dozen live service games he plays. He can be found on BlueSky.
